Lovely place. Friendly staff. Nice clean rooms. Would definitely stay here again.

Me an a friend stayed Friday night, after getting there late, not receiving there email about the booking not being able to be submitted we got there an gave them a call for them to come straight out an let us in for the night such lovely people with really nice rooms, would happily visit there again.

San Pietro

11 High St E, Scunthorpe DN15 6UH, UK – 01724 277774

Brilliant. Free glass of prosecco at check in. Room great. Staff fantastic. Restaurant 2-star Rosette. The devil is in the detail. And these people get it right! We came here for a wedding anniversary. Right at the end of the meal a plate with cookies brought to our table with "Happy Anniversary" written in chocolate as well as a card from the staff. Totally unexpected. Highly recommended.

Another visit here. Food had to be sent back due to more fat then meat on my dish. This was quickly resolved without question. As ever will return

Royal Hotel

Doncaster Rd, Scunthorpe DN15 7DE, UK – 01724 282233

This place is really lively on a Saturday night with live music and a new decorated bar area, the only downside is it's no good if your a driver, completely out of zero alcohol beer, but besides that, a good night out.

Location great with parking available food was ok

Pubs, Gastro Pubs and Bars

Blue Bell Inn

3-7 Oswald Rd, Scunthorpe DN15 7PU, UK – 01724 863921

The food is excellent. The beer is okay with a fine selection other than John Smiths which is what most people seem to drink. The bar staff , especially the ladies, well would be great if they at least smiled and were more talkative / friendly than looking like they are under house arrest.

Good value for money when we went it was busy. Quite noisy what you expect. The burgers were great chicken fillets cooked well. The best thing was the Sundays. Wow good balance of ice cream, cream and flavour. Overall fantastic value for money

The Honest Lawyer

70 Oswald Rd, Scunthorpe DN15 7PG, UK – 01724 276652

First time having Sunday lunch here and I have to say it was bloody gorgeous... The plates are massive which makes you think there is not enough dinner but I have to state its all an illusion... Compliments to the chef and staff making us feel very welcome and we will definitely come back... Thank you Honest Lawyer... Xxx

Food was fantastic. The staff excellent. Would have been an easy 5 stars but for 2 things. They were out of 1 of the puddings which at 5.30 on a Saturday evening is poor for a restaurant. And then no double cream for a brandy coffee. Again a restaurant with no double cream?? Also the coffee was from a machine and not strong enough. I suppose technically 3 issues but counting the coffee as 1. A shame as the overall experience was great and we have booked to go again so fingers crossed they read this review.

The Penny Bank

160 High St, Scunthorpe DN15 6EN, UK – 07540 379051

Very good staff. Cheap beer only problem the toilets are upstairs. But it is still a good place.

Friendliest pub I've ever been in.

Travel Super Market search and compare prices for hotels all over the world. Could also be useful for you. I This said I was told by a hotelier that the way to get cheap rooms is to ring up the week before and ask for the weekend rate. You can usually get an absolute bargain as they will trying to book all the rooms that they have not sold! Could be worth a try!

Cosgrove

33-35 Wells St, Scunthorpe DN15 6HL, UK – 01724 279405

I usually don't write reviews, but this time, it has compelled me to write a review. I stayed at Cosgroove for a week, it's beyond my expectation from every aspect. The host, Barry, is really a nice helpful guy who made me feel the stay at my own home, away from home. The rooms are neat and clean and airy. It was a nice short stay at Cosgroove.

Host is very friendly and rooms are neat and clean..

If you would like something truly different you might like to have a look at Airbnb. These are mostly B and Bs provided by people on a very informal basis. The may have a spare room, a yurt, a cottage or a barge with space they can receive guests for a night or a month! The website is highly professional. You can really see what you are going to get. Very well worth a look. Airbnb also show 'conventional' B&Bs as well. Enjoy!

Normanby Hall Country Park

Normanby Rd, Normanby, Scunthorpe DN15, UK – 01724 720588

Season pass is great value, lots to see and do for children. A great place to have fun outdoors, we find something new everytime we visit. In warm days take swimsuits and towels for the kids - they will love the water park!! The museum of farming is small but well laid out with lots of interesting artifacts, we took around 30 minutes to wander around, could have happily spent longer. The walled garden is a delight. Lots of places to enjoy a picnic, we use the cafe for ice creams, but they do sell more. Landtrain fairly priced, mini rail at weekends. All staff are friendly. We always leave looking forward to our next return. Highly recommended for families.

We were at a wedding reception here and I thought it was a great choice in terms of the views, the history of the place and atmosphere. I think the waiters and staff could be a little smarter and more professional but it didn't bother me that they weren't.
